Today is all about packing, headed to NC tomorrow morning for a great retreat with over 80 of my online friends!! This is the fourth HGTV Circle Of Friends retreat.
Every year it is held in a different state. Some of our wonderful board members step up and agree to host. THEY do all the work, we descend upon them, and they are never the same!! lol
Classes, fun, eating, shopping, and this year sexy firemen are in my future. ha ha
I will explain the firemen when I get home. wink wink
I will get lots of pics, and spend lots of money on fabric, and other quilty things.
But it is only once a year, so you have to do that.
I can`t wait to see old friends, and put faces to others.

Been a Month!
Geez, Loueez, I was on my friend Kathy`s blog, and realized it has been a month since I posted anything. So here is an update.
I am getting ready to head to the Columbus quilt show tomorrow. I am staying for a few nights with different friends. First with Becky, Donna, and Kathy, then on to a hotel for a few nights with my best friend Joyce. We have so much planned for that time, we could probably stay a month and not get them all done! rofl
I will post pics as soon as I get back.

I have more to be Thankful for!
When I did my last posting, I was feeling down for the holiday. And really concerned for my Mom. She was just so upset about my brother, and my sister. Well anyway, my friend Kathy saw my post and she had an idea. What if she asked all the ladies at HGTV to send my Mom a card, chocolate, or something to cheer her up for the holidays.
WELL, let me tell you, when Kathy emailed me and asked me what I thought of the idea, I thought it would be great! And since my Mom is a quilter, and we are asking quilters to do this, why not just ask for a 12.5 piece of fabric added to the cards.
She will get a great quilt out of it, and she will not feel all alone.
Kathy posted the request on the HGTV quilting board, and told them to PM me for my Moms address!!! OMG, that was on Wednesday night! Since then we have had over 85 requests for her address. She is going to be flipping out in just a few days, as some have already mailed out today. One of the ladies told me she just joined the board, and had missed out on being a Secret Sister, or in the Christmas exchanges, so she was adopting my Mom for Christmas this year and sending her a package!
The best thing is I feel better already knowing how good this is going to make my Mom feel! And knowing, what I have known for a long time, QUILTERS are the BEST!!

Home from the retreat!
Wow!! It has been a fantastic 5 days!!! I got home about 1 am last night and was exhausted. BUT, it was so worth being sleep deprived. The committee in New Hampshire did a great job!! SHAWKL, Quiltingbee, and Quiltahohlic did a great job with the presentations, and the quilts they showed took our breaths away. When 70 ladies get together, there is just no way to descibe how fantastic it is. (I should add 70 quilting ladies) We got to reconnect with friends we met at previous retreats, and meet new ones this time.
I took classes in shuttle tatting from IowaLisa, and learned some things I was doing wrong, and that practice, practice, practice is the best thing to do. She was a great teacher.
I also took bullion and stumpwork from Brinnsmom. That poor lady had lost her voice before the retreat, but kept right on teaching, and I did learn how to do the bullion stitch. She did a fantastic job, and had great handouts printed so we can keep working on those stitches.
The other class I took was ATCs and Inchies from Toryam, she is such a cute little thing. We all had a ball making those teeny tiny work of arts.
We only had time for three classes, but all of the teachers were there to answer questions, and show us a few tips from their classes. Colleen taught Clay faces, and I did not get to take that class, but she graciously showed us how to do it in the B & B on Sunday night.
I got to sit beside Pegsami and BJeanes at the table quite a bit of the time, and they are both fun ladies. Pegsami and I had coffee together every morning! Her name is not Peg, but to me she will be Peg forever. :) She was so funny!! The only single room that was available was in the B & B was the handicapped room, so that is where she was. We teased her about it all week, and she didn`t mind at all.
If I name all the ladies that I had a ball with, this would go on way to long, so I just want to add a few things.
I loved finally getting to meet Donna (everythingquilts) she is just like I thought she was going to be, and that was great!
Dixielady is an absolute hoot, and we had a ball with her. Her daughter Taylor went with us a few times, and cute as can be. We went to a few bead shops with her, and laughed so hard, I almost peed myself. Just don`t listen to her GPS, because as Taylor says, it is illiterate!! lol She is not kidding!!!
There is just too much and too many more things to say today, but I am sure I will be adding lots more as I wake up and remember them!! :)
Joyce and I roomed together and were the perfect match!!! That is if you remember The Odd Couple, they loved each other. BTW, I am Oscar, she is not near as bad as Felix, but you could definetly see the difference in her stuff compared to how mine was all over the room.
AND yes I found the smarties and ate them!!! :)

Day started out great! BUT
Well today was my only day off for the next 8-9 days. I started out great, got my exchange gift finished up for the crochet board and mailed it out. I finished stuffing a box for my friend Donna and got that in the mail finally. She is just starting out CQing and I wanted to send her some things in that line. I sponsored her in the CQ embellishment swap that I host several times a year, so her and I split all the bags I had coming to me. I crocheted a small snowflake for my best friend and just need to stiffen it up and pack her Christmas box up and mail it.
THEN the bottom of my day fell out. The nursing home where my mother in law has been for the last month or so called and said she was doing very badly and non responsive.
I called my husband at work around two this afternoon to tell him. He called me back a little bit ago and my dear mother in law passed away. She has had Alzheimers for a little while now. Still it is hard dealing with her passing. She was in her 80s, and was really a good person. She helped my husband and I buy our first home, which we still live in. She use to cook these great Sunday dinners and then send us home with care packages that would last us almost till the next Sunday. She was that kind of person! I will miss her!

CQ ornaments DONE!!

Well these four small ornaments are finally done! And they really did work out, although when I started piecing them, I thought they would never get done. I tried about five new things and maybe two worked out. But they are really cute. Thanks to Talia for the rhinestone embellishments on the mittens. I found the cutest little lightbulbs and added them to my tree. Now that I know how things worked I want to make a few more for some special friends!
Pay it Forward
I am a member of the growing group of Pay it Forward!! I am committing to sending three homemade gifts to three people in the next six to twelve months. Would you like to join? I will have a link so you can read all about it. As soon as I figure out how to get that link on here. The premise is real easy, you sign up here with me, and then you post it on your blog and get three more people to sign up and on and on. The first three that sign up get your gift. I think that the way you get your gifts is to also look for others that sign up and let them know you are one of the players. That way you get the three items. When I post the link, it will give you more info if needed.

Friends
I love the computer! Want to know why?? Because of the great friends you meet. Today got me thinking about how many wonderful woman I have met because of the computer. Woman from all over the world, from all walks of life, woman like me with a love of quilting, crocheting, whatever. With the way we work nowadays, we hardly have time for anything besides that and family. Friendships are so hard to keep up with in this modern day, we are tired after work, we don`t get out as much, or have the time to "do lunch, go shopping, just sit and talk" but we can "visit" with all our friends every night right in our living room, wearing our pj`s! What more could we ask. And the friendships are real! We truly care about each other, we share hopes, dreams and joys and sorrows, right here and now!! Don`t ever tell me that my friends on this computer are not real, because we all know they are. I laugh and I cry right along with them.
I would do whatever I could for them and know they feel the same way. Some I will meet face to face, lots I already have, some I will never see their faces, but they are as important to me as the ones I have met. Guess I just wanted to let all my friends know how much they mean to me!!

Dear Friends
My dear friend from Ohio sent me a great surprise package today!! In it was some totally beautiful batik fabrics. And since she knew I collected turtles, she sent me a darling tiny carved turtle and some great sea turtle fabric. She also sent me a dottee doll. If you don`t know what a dottee doll is, just google it and see the great ideas people have come up with from all over the world!
I am going to add a picture of hers here.
This is one of the best things about the internet, the wonderful friends you can find and how they just seem to fit so well into your life. Some you get to meet, as I will soon meet my friend in Ohio. Her name is Joyce and we plan on spending a whole day at the Sewing Expo in Sharenville, Ohio a little later this month. I have also met some great ladies from other parts of the world and am sure I will never get the chance to meet in person. But the friendships are there, and that is what counts!
